We are dedicated to promoting among ourselves,
and with others:
- Knowledge about the remarkable
people of past and present who are part of the family
- Preservation of family history
so we may share it with our children
- Development of historical
materials especially oral histories to be shared now and in the future
among ourselves and with family friends
- Helping as well as learning
from the senior members of our family
- Support for the younger generation
as they lead us into the 21st century
We begin with a family by the name of Marple
because we think it exemplifies this family's successful effort over nearly
two centuries to preserve something about themselves. Their individual achievements,
while perhaps seeming at the time very modest, becomes today an example
and encouragement to other families as well as their own to continue the
work.
